MARCHANT RECEIVES SECOND HCAC HITTER OF THE WEEK AWARD, NAMED NATIONAL BASEBALL WRITERS ASSOCIATION HONORABLE MENTION HITTER OF THE WEEK

Manchester College’s Corey Marchant (Fort Wayne, Ind./Bishop Dwenger) led the Spartans to a 4-2 record during the week and has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Baseball Hitter of the Week for the second time. The junior short stop finished the week 12-of-24 (.500) at the plate with 10 RBI, eight runs scored, and a stolen base. Marchant added five home runs with seven singles, posting a slugging percentage of 1.125 during the six games. He is currently ranked fourth in the nation in homeruns per game and third in total homeruns. Marchant was one of eight individuals nation-wide to be named honorable mention Hitter of the Week by the National Baseball Writer's Association.
